OS X and iTunes over NFS

On the home network our house iTunes library is stored on a NFS share. This has been a huge improvement over SMB due to a number of character restrictions SMB imposed. (Apple KB 107032) The iTunes library is automounted over NFS at /private/mnt and symlinked to ~/Music/iTunes on each of the three Macs. As far as the end user goes it appears as if the iTunes library resides on local disk. A new problem recently showed up where we could not edit song info.
