Autoshow

Autoshow
Autoshow Hosted on Zooomr

This week the Toronto Autoshow is taking place at the Convention Centre and Rogers Centre providing plenty of photographic opportunities. With a mountain of unused overtime hours and a desire for some new subjects, Trush and I took the day, and went on a photowalk.

I was quite surprised at the number of people with cameras, but even more so by the diversity of equipment. There were a fair number of people who were quite content to take pictures with their camera phones, which I don’t understand as phone cameras never seemed to be strong on capturing detail.

Flashes are expected, as most people overuse them (especially on point and shoot cameras), but there were more than a few bounce cards, or other light diffusion devices in use. A few people set up tripods in front of the cars. A couple of times Trush or I commented on how it would have been nice to use a one as the lighting wasn’t always the best resulting in some motion blur. A tripod would have helped with macro shots of logos and engine components too. Now we know for next time.

The South Hall was the most interesting of the 3 locations. With the exotic Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, the extravagant Bently, the luxurious Audi, BMW, Jaguar, classic Studebakers and assorted classic muscle cars, and not to mention Volkswagen, there was plenty to see and shoot. The other locations were either boring domestic or more car dealership showroom. The exceptions being, in the North Hall Porsche and in the Rogers Centre, the Toyota F1 car.

The most disheartening thing about the Autoshow was a severe lack of booth babes. Cars and babes go together like chocolate and peanut butter, yet there were none to be found. I had planned on creating a Babes of the Toronto Autoshow collection, but that’s not going to happen.

I have a lot of pictures to go through, and some finishing that needs to be done. Hopefully I’ll post pictures soon.
